Rowan is a multimedia performing artist committed to using art as a vehicle for social change. They hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance from Bates College and a Masters of Acupuncture Degree from The Won Institute of Graduate Studies. Rowan’s education in East Asian Medicine strongly influences how they move, make work, and relate to the world. 

Rowan currently works as a teaching artist and consultant with organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Region, focusing on topics of LGBTQ+ inclusive healthcare and interfaith understanding. They have also spent time as an Equity & Access Facilitator at Earthdance’s seasonal Contact Improvisation retreats. Rowan is continuously challenging the power structures that uphold the fields of Theatre and Dance. 

As a touring artist, Rowan has worked with Sandglass Theater, a puppetry ensemble dedicated to exploring contemporary issues. While at Sandglass, Rowan performed in Babylon: Journey of Refugees and facilitated storytelling workshops with high-refugee population communities. Rowan has also toured with First Generation, a multi-lingual physical theater ensemble with a focus on social justice. Original works by Rowan have been shown at La MaMa Experimental Theatre NYC, the Bates Dance Festival, and Bearnstow.
